As Chief Innovation Officer for Legal & General (FTSE30 #1 UK investment, pension and insurance manager), Maarten launched the world’s first reinsurance on blockchain and converted many departments into tech and innovation award-winning for the first time [AI Claim Bot won award for best claim platform of 2018] in this highly regulated 185-year old insurer. Before, he reported into Mark Shuttleworth, the second space tourist, and set up the IoT business for his company which is behind Ubuntu. At Nokia (Siemens) Networks in 2010 he launched startups@NSN, the world’s first telecom cloud incubator, out of which came Cumulocity, the first IoT SaaS platform.
