About Marius

I’m a Software Architect and Engineering Lead with 20+ years across fintech, e-commerce, cloud services, real-time/embedded 3D sensing, and developer tooling. I work best at the intersection of architecture, delivery and leadership: aligning stakeholders, shaping technical strategy, and getting robust systems into production without disrupting operations.

In recent years, I led the end-to-end creation of Kyte, a greenfield e-invoicing SaaS: authored the proposal, recruited and led a fully remote team, designed the architecture, and shipped the product to production.
It reached 1,000+ users within two months and was successfully handed over to Wolters Kluwer/Clearfacts. I also contributed to the preview launch of AWS Verified Permissions (authorization/IAM), focusing on DynamoDB data modeling and observability (logging/tracing/telemetry) in a distributed, multi-site team. More broadly, I’ve built and modernized systems where reliability, security, performance, and cost discipline matter.

I am passionate about creating innovative and transformative solutions that provide value for customers. I am committed to continuous learning and driven by curiosity for emerging trends and technologies. I enjoy working with and learning from others, sharing my knowledge and expertise, and collaborating to achieve impactful outcomes.

What you can expect from me:

  • Architecture leadership: cloud-native, distributed systems, event-driven design, API design, data modeling (SQL/NoSQL)

  • Engineering leadership: mentoring, setting quality bars, delivery process (trunk-based development, CI/CD, DevOps), pragmatic governance, stakeholder alignment
  • Operational excellence: observability, reliability, security guardrails, incremental modernization and migration planning

I’m open to Software Development Lead/Technical Lead/Architect (Solution/Enterprise) roles and Fractional CTO engagements — remote or hybrid in Belgium/EU (US East Coast time zone workable for remote collaboration).

Experience

  • InItero
    Software Development Lead & Architect
    April 2023 - Today (3 years and 2 months)
    Brussels, Belgium
I run a small product/consulting studio, acting as hands-on architect and engineering lead: shaping the roadmap, making architecture decisions, and delivering production-grade software with small high-leverage teams.

    Key work:

    • Architecting and building an FMEA MVP web tool (Azure + .NET/C# backend, React frontend, PostgreSQL; IaC with Pulumi; telemetry via App Insights; AI capabilities via Azure Cognitive Services) for XWare. for this MVP I have one other software engineer working with me in a small team.

    • Led development of a Poland KSeF e-invoicing integration service for Marosa, with a small team of 2 software engineers. Implemented using Java 21, Spring Boot, Kafka, MongoDB; containerized deployment with Docker/Kubernetes.

    • Built Kyte, a greenfield e-invoicing SaaS: authored proposal, recruited & led a remote team of 4 engineers, designed the architecture, implemented core backends, and shipped to production (AWS serverless: Go backends, TypeScript/React, DynamoDB single-table, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, Step Functions, observability, cost-aware architecture). Product reached 1,000+ users within two months and was handed over to Wolters Kluwer/Clearfacts.

    Sint-Genesius-Rode, VB, Belgium
Owned modernization planning for Powerdale's EV charging platform Nexxtmov), including AWS migration strategy and architecture modernization planning.

    Highlights:

    • Led two engineering teams (6 software engineers + 3 DevOps/system engineers) and strengthened the SDLC and delivery practices (CI/CD, deployment hygiene), with focus on scalability and reliability.

    • Served on the executive committee and acted as a bridge between engineering and business for platform operations and roadmap execution.

    Tech: Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL.

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
    Software Development Engineer
    July 2022 - April 2023 (9 months)
    Brussels, Belgium
As part of AWS Identity building the future of authorization, I contributed to the preview launch of Amazon Verified Permissions (now a core AWS service offering).

    Highlights:

    • Implemented the initial DynamoDB data model and later the logging/tracing/telemetry subsystem for observability and operational readiness.

    • Worked in a distributed team across US and Europe (NY, VA, Madrid, Brussels, Berlin).

Tech: Rust, DynamoDB, internal AWS tooling, Cedar policy language.
